BNNVARA pays musical tribute
This coming Saturday, the first major thematic TV show dedicated to the NPO Culture Campaign will air, based on a program idea by media creator Stephen Emmer. The program is an ode by artists to their back-office staff, the people who are perhaps falling by the wayside even more during the corona crisis and have consequently been out of work for more than a year.

Stephen Emmer: ‘These are the people who normally make the magic possible for the artists night after night, and that is why I felt the spotlight should be shone on these anonymous wizards, by the artists themselves, specifically and subsequently make this more visible to the general public in a positive way as a TV program. Both NPO and BNNVARA agreed with me and proceeded to realize this special theme program as part of the #reddekunstenopradioentv action plan.’
The show is hosted by Renze Klamer and Leona Philippo.
Renze: ‘It will be a special broadcast, so I am really looking forward to presenting it with Leona. Artists will perform and link music to beautiful memories backstage or to specific people from the sector. We will also look forward together to the reopening of the arts and culture sector, which we all love so much!’
Leona: ‘This is a feel-good concert for all the people who always put us so beautifully in the spotlight and are now out of work.’ People like my tour manager, with whom I sat in the car every day for fourteen years, and whom I have missed terribly for a year now. It is a tribute, a boost for everyone behind the scenes. I am sure we all have one thing in common: that we are raring to go to start again!
The program is titled Als Ik Je Weer Zie (When I See You Again) and will be broadcast this coming Saturday, April 3 at 20:30 on NPO1. The broadcast comes from the Ziggo Dome at BNNVARA. Performances include Nick and Simon, Jeangu Macrooy, Douwe Bob, and a one-off appearance by the Dolly Dots.
