Emmer's podcast tips

Emmer's podcast tips

There is an abundance of podcasts. To help you find your way, media platform Spreekbuis asks a media personality to select his or her favourites every week. Composer Emmer has created more than 500 famous TV theme tunes and melodies. He is the Netherlands' best-known composer for radio and television productions.

Stephen Emmer's five podcast tips

1. BBC Desert Island Discs

Since the 1950s, first as a radio program and now as a podcast, they have maintained the timeless and proven golden formula of questioning a guest about how to survive on a deserted island. Thanks to the enormous archive, you can choose from guests spanning no fewer than eight decades in this podcast series!

2. Mischa!

Contrarian thinkers have their say on this podcast by Mischa Blok. This is a good thing, because too many conversations are between people who agree with each other in advance (even on NPO Radio 1), and that is predictable and boring. This can create friction and lead to something surprising, and that is a good thing.

3. The Daily

This is still the best podcast, showcasing the new style of news presentation and in-depth analysis. Everything is right: the presentation, the design, the tone of voice, and the handling of the subject matter.

4. Branie

As the title suggests, this is an Ajax podcast with a bold look at the weekly goings-on in the Arena.

5. Electronically Yours

If you really want to go inland about music with a selection of well-known musicians, then this is a wonderful podcast. The podcast was produced under the direction of Martyn Ware, known from the 80s pop band Human League.
