VPRO 3 Voor 12 : Iconic composer

He is an ICONIC composer, and the chance that you have heard his music is about one hundred percent, because Stephen Emmer created the theme music for, among others, RTL Late Night, RTL Boulevard, RTL Nieuws, the NOS Journaal, and hundreds and hundreds of other programs.

This solo album is a completely different kettle of fish: he connects the dots between contemporary chamber music, jazz, ambient, and electronica, between Indonesian and Dutch culture, and between the birth of his grandson and the passing of his mother.

A mesmerising, beautiful album for Sunday morning (and it can go straight into my 'beautifully serene' playlist), and featuring a brief guest appearance by Beth Hirsch (a prominent voice on Air's Moon Safari).
