This effort is definitely something to have as a moment in time...

Okayplayer Premiere

Isn’t music grand? No other medium incorporates sounds, styles and voices like music. Thankfully, Stephen Emmer and his Home Ground crew are here to satiate our needs. The new project combines the eloquence of contemporary orchestral soul with socially conscious lyrics.

Enter: Home Ground.

The album, which is scheduled for June 9th, addresses concerns that resonate with our type of audience. Home Ground uses the musical excellence of the likes of Kendra FosterChaka KhanUrsula Rucker and Patti Austin to tell the story.

Carefully selected and produced by Stephen Emmer, this project has been mixed by the one and only, legendary Bob Power (A Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu). With all that in mind, we are ecstatic to premiere the trailer for Home Ground for your viewing pleasure, as well as a track from by Ursual Rucker called “SOIL,” which you can listen to below.

Leon Ware…

We’re not totally sure, but Home Ground may mark one of the last known recordings from the late, great Leon Ware, who passed away at the top of this year on February. This effort is definitely something to have as a moment in time, a capsule of sorts that cements resistance music as a force that still needs to be reckoned with.

Don’t let us talk your heads off, please check out the Home Ground album trailer.
